Spring, Summer and Fall at Colonial Bay is a time for family, fun and relaxation.

Steps from your cottage you can enjoy Muskoka at its best - water, fresh air, nature.

With 300' of sand bottom lakefront on clean clear Peninsula Lake, playing at the lake is a summer favorite. Swimming, building Sand Castles, canoeing or relaxing in a Muskoka Chair will ease most into the "summer holiday mode".

Swim, kayak, master the skill of standup paddleboarding, canoe, read a book, take out a rowboat, badminton, tell tales at the campfire, roast marshmellows, volley ball, fish, build sand castles, sun bathe, rent a mountain bike (off-site), play a board game, soccer, hike, birding, golf, relax in a muskoka chair, wildlife viewing.

Day and 1/2 Day Trips

Algonquin Park - Just 20 minutes(32 KM.) to the west gate from Colonial Bay. Spending a day or more in Algonquin Park will add enjoyment to your vacation. Make your day trip as rugged or gentle as you want, the options are limitless. Hike, canoe, visit the Logging Museum, Visitors Centre, Art Gallery or simple drive along Highway # 60 and watch for moose.

Arrowhead Provincial Park

Boat Cruises - Muskoka Steamships and Discovery Centre, Lake Muskoka, Gravenhurst. The Island Queen, Georgian Bay, Parry Sound. Muskoka Cruises, Muskoka River and Lake Muskoka, Bracebridge.

Muskoka Heritage Place - In the Town of Huntsville (10KM) this reconstructed settlement offers a glimpse into the pioneer ways of the area. Take a ride on the  reconstructed rail line that once transported visitors from Peninsula Lake to Lake of Bays.

Golf - Deerhurst Highlands, Deerhurst Lakeside, and Huntsville Downs are 18 hole courses while Grandview and Whispering Pines are 9 hole. These five courses are located within 15 minutes of Colonial Bay. An additional 8 courses are located within 45 minutes of Colonial Bay.

Oxtongue River-Ragged Falls - Off Highway 60 on the Oxtongue River just before Algonquin Park. Hike in to the Falls and climb the paths or rocks. A picnic and afternoon swim at the Falls makes a great afternoon. For the more adventurous - rent a canoe at Oxtongue Lake and paddle up to the Falls.

Santa's Village - 45 minutes from Colonial Bay in the Town of Bracebridge, Santa's Village is an amusement park and Santa's summer home. There are rides and activities for all ages.

Dorset Lookout Tower - The old fire tower sits on top of a hill over looking Lake of Bays. After climbing the tower finish your visit to Dorset with ice cream at the general store.
